Thursday: new moon begins
Friday: sabbath begins, - 1st of Tishrei, Feast of Trumpets till sunset, Rosh Chodesh
YOM TERUAH / FEAST OF TRUMPETS 1st of Tishrei
Old Testament
“Speak
to the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the seventh month, on the first
day of the month, you shall have a Sabbath rest, a memorial of blowing
of trumpets, a holy convocation. ‘You shall do no customary work on it; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to YHVH.’” (Leviticus 23:24-25)
New Testament
Yeshua said “Immediately
after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the
moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the
powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man
will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn,
and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with
power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of
a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds,
from one end of heaven to the other. (Matthew 24:29-31)
“But you have no need to have anything written to you, brothers, about the times and dates when this will happen; because you yourselves well know that the Day of YHVH will come like a thief in the night. When people are saying, “Everything is so peaceful and secure,” then destruction will suddenly come upon them, the way labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and there is no way they will escape. But you, brothers, are not in the dark, so that the Day should take you by surprise like a thief.” (1 Thessalonians 5:1-4)
As we celebrate Yom Teruah/Trumpets we anticipate Yeshua’s return on His appointed time and are thankful that we can be children of the light according to His word, and not be taken by surprise when He returns.
Remember
whom you are, you saints, and get to your labors before any other
consideration. That which you devote the most time to, is where the
apple of your eye is. Truly. |
