Death Of The Word "Faith"

Death Of The Word "Faith"
By Morgan Franklin

By no means do I mean faith itself, but what is portrayed as faith in modern society. For instance, we use it as a word to replace belief as we ask others "What is your faith?". Using this word in this way has destroyed it and watered it down to no degree. Having faith in modern mainstream standards is no more than believing in any sort of religion or deity.

Let's take a look at what the modern definitions of faith are:

1. complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

2. strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.

One of these is the true definition and the other is destroying the actual meaning of the word. The second definition has sucked the life out of the word requiring that Faith is a belief and has no proof. Which as we know there is plenty of proof for Yeshua and YHVH. They are manufacturing that faith is all in our heads and has no material substance.

The First definition has the word TRUST, which means we trust on Yeshua that he will deliver, save and guide us. Sadly, many have fell for the second definition and claim to have faith and have little to no trust on the heavenly Father and Son. If we replace the word Faith with Trust, it really has an impact on a conversation with others especially when sharing the Gospel. I first noticed this with street evangelical Ray Comfort from Living Waters Ministry on YouTube. I found that he slowly steered away from using the word faith in his encounters with strangers. He started to us the word trust and it's a word that you can't alter the definition of. To be saved he states is repentance and having Trust in Jesus. That is a direct and narrow path compared to : Repentance and having faith in Jesus (Modern standards). Faith could mean anything now, so the path isn't narrow to be saved.

The deception is so subtle that a tweak of the meaning a word can cause devastating effects to a generation. Especially when sharing the good news with others also allowing wiggle room to be a lukewarm Christian. Maybe, we should start asking people who do you put your trust in and see what they say.

Jeremiah 29:8-14

8 For thus saith Yahua of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.
9 For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith Yahua.
10 For thus saith the Lord, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith Yahua, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
14 And I will be found of you, saith Yahua: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith Yahua; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
