Apparently, the Nepalese cursed this mountain in the 1930s to foreign climbers they felt were desecrating something sacred to their tribes and the other tribes of the region. They had the elders of the Nagas put a chief demon to kill all not of area blood, to die on the peaks there.
And the kill count of foreign deaths still climbs every year. Even when other peaks far more dangerous all over the world, kill no one. Over 400 people have died on Everest since that time.
